Okay, so where the puff did October go? Seriously.
This year, I have again volunteered to be the Deputy Liaison (ie coordinator person) for the Nevada City chapter of NaNoWriMo. If you’re a local, mark your calendars—we will be meeting at Cafe Mekka in downtown NC on three Sundays: Nov 10, 17, & 24th at 3pm.
Staring at my calendar and the impending first of the month—staring into my soul and seeing all the ideas swirling about in the dark abyss—I am left with two very good and very tempting choices for what to write this year.
To The House Of Death
This option is a bit of a cheat. I’ve written out the rough draft entirely by hand; my project would be to type it up, expediting the editing process. As you know, I’ve been posting a chapter or two every month on my beta site; it would REALLY help me to have a large chunk of the draft typed up BEFORE I step into editing. However, it IS a bit of a cheat, since we’re supposed to write from scratch for NaNo.
Rada and the Red Daemon
This is a story idea I’ve had in my head for a while now. It’s about a young girl whose mother has disappeared. She discovers her mother’s hidden spell books and summons a red daemon. Together, Rada and the Red Daemon go on a quest to rescue her mother from the daemon eaters.
As I said, both are very tempting choices. As the time for NaNoWriMo draws near, I still cannot choose between these two options. What do you think readers? Should I refrain from switching horses mid-race (cough, I mean mid-book editing)? Or should I take the plunge and write another rough draft?
